History

The Gary Studio has been helping people realize their musical dreams since 1991. Over the years we have had a few piano students place in local competitions, and one highly-driven individual even won a state competition.  The vast majority of piano students however progress at a more measured pace. 

Experience has shown us that each individual is different. We care about individuality and strive to bring out the best in every person we work with  -  no matter what their situation.

James Gary

• 2012  - named an official accompanist for the San Diego Flute Guild
• 2011  - adjudicator for CAPMT (California association of Professional Music Teachers) ensemble competition
• 2006  - recipient of the FORTE Award for excellence in music education*
• 2000  - adjudicator for the J. Fischer competition at SDSU
• 1994  - adjudicator for the CAPMT Sonatina Festival
• 1992 - present  -  lecture/recitals throughout the San Diego City Library System and College District
• 1990  - Graduate - the San Francisco Conservatory of Music
• 1986  - Piano soloist with the San Diego Youth Symphony (SDYS) on their tour of the U.K.
• 1986  - appointed staff-pianist of the SDYS
• 1986  - live radio broadcast with Hudson and Baur
• 1984  - began studies with legendary pianist and mentor -  Ilana Mysior

Miho Gary

• 2011  - recipient of the FORTE Award for excellence in music education*
• 1999 - present  - enjoys a reputation as one of San Diego's pre-eminent piano accompanists
• 1992  - Graduate - the San Francisco Conservatory of Music 
• 1986  - Graduate - the School of Music in Oita, Japan
